Final Degree Authentication & Apostille
Candidates may, at their own expense, obtain applicable U.S. state authentication/Apostille for eligible final degree documents through the competent authority in the document's jurisdiction.
An Apostille issued under the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 facilitates international document use in member countries (India has been a member since 2005).
Important Legal & Compliance Notice
Apostille authenticates the origin, signature, and seal of the document academic equivalence, accreditation recognition, professional licensing, employment eligibility, admission, immigration eligibility, or acceptance by every university, employer, government authority, or professional regulator. Such decisions remain subject to destination laws and institutional regulations.
India has been a member since 2005, and the Indian Ministry of External Affairs specifically states that educational documents such as degrees and diplomas can be apostilled. It also states that an apostilled document from a Hague member country should not require further legalization in India.
“NGUI USA graduates may obtain applicable U.S. authentication/Apostille for their final academic documents. Where required, candidates may separately apply to UGC, AICTE, AIU, BCI, PCI like any Indian Government Education to the competent authorities in India for recognition/equivalence of their foreign qualification. Acceptance for higher education, employment or professional purposes remains subject to applicable regulations and the decision of the competent authority.
The Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents (“Hague Apostille Convention”) establishes a simplified process for authenticating certain public documents for international use.
India has been a participating country in the Hague Apostille Convention since 2005. The Government of India's Ministry of External Affairs identifies educational documents, including degrees and diplomas, among documents for which Apostille services are available.
An Apostille generally facilitates the international circulation of an eligible document by authenticating the relevant signature, seal or capacity appearing on the document.”
